Pictures of San Jose, California

I live in San Jose, California. I've started posting miscellaneous local pictures on this page on Feb 22, 2004.

A view of Silicon Valley from Sierra Rd in the eastern foothills of San Jose. I came up here to get pictures overlooking the valley. But this smoke plume (about 10 miles/16km away) caught my attention once I was up there. The size of the smoke plume pretty much said it was bad news... Checking the web after returning to town, it turned out to be a 7-alarm fire (more news) at a middle school near downtown Santa Clara. This picture was taken around 4PM, but the news says the fire started around noon. (Feb 22, 2004)

It was starting to rain during this picture so I packed up my camera and tripod. When I was getting in my truck, I saw the first flash of lightning a few miles away - it was definitely time to get off the mountain. (Feb 22, 2004)
