Circular Feature at Moapa, Nevada

In late 2007, I noticed on topographic maps what appears to be a 50-60 mile diameter circular feature which somewhat resembles a large eroded impact crater. It's located in the terrain around Moapa, Nevada. I had wanted to take a look at this the next time I was in the Las Vegas area.

I just happened to be in Vegas in May 2008 for my FAA check ride for my flight instructor certificate. The check ride has been postponed several times for weather and aircraft maintenance, which created an opportunity to visit this site.

This circular feature includes Meadow Valley on the west side, the Virgin River Valley on the southeast side, and the Mormon Mountains and East Mormon Mountains in the center.

See my photos from my visit on May 26, 2008.
