Around the pattern at San Jose International Airport, April 3, 2010

From the "you can do this if you get a pilot license" department...

These are some photos taken with my camera by Dave Weinshenker from the passenger seat of a Piper Arrow that I was flying. It wasn't a flying lesson so I flew from the left seat. This was originally planned to be a flight out of the area for lunch. But the clouds stayed lower than forecast. Clouds and mountains don't mix. So we abbreviated the plan... got lunch near the airport waiting for the clouds to lift. Then the flight was just a look around the area to show Dave what flying in a light aircraft is like. And he said he liked it.

We flew from Reid-Hillview Airport to San Jose International Airport (just 5 miles away) for a few times around the traffic pattern. There was the usual lull in airline traffic expected for Saturday afternoons. Then southwest to Saratoga and Los Gatos to briefly let Dave have a chance to fly the plane. I think this was his first time at the controls of an airplane - he seemed to enjoy it. Then we returned to Reid-Hillview. This is always a good route to quickly show Silicon Valley from the air.
