Flying with Hans - aerial photos of Mt Hamilton, August 3, 2011

After work I went flying with my friend Hans while he was briefly in San Jose visiting his family. I had run into him nearly every day the previous week at EAA AirVenture at Oshkosh.

I've known Hans for more than a decade since we're both Linux geeks. After he moved out of the Bay Area for work, we re-acquainted finding the coincidence that we're now both Commercial Pilots. So there's that much more to talk about when we meet.

In a way it's sort of a test when two pilots fly together. Until this flight, we hadn't flown together. What opinion do each have of the other's flying ability? Can you work together on flying the plane? How well do you get along in that environment? All those tests passed as expected.

It was fun flight. The original plan was to get the traditional "$100 hamburger" (fly somewhere and get food). But with the coastal stratus clouds coming in early, we decided to just fly around the area and return.
