Can you recognize a thunderstorm without seeing lightning?
Even here in California we get occasional thunderstorms,
usually in the Spring and Fall.
After each time, someone tells me we "never" get thunderstorms here.
It tells me a lot of people just don't know how to recognize them.
See "Can you recognize a thunderstorm without seeing lightning?"
on my Pilotquest blog.

Pilots: if you're still using a paper pilot certificate, time is running out
to replace it with a plastic certificate so you can keep using it.

More airports are getting LPV instrument approaches.
The lucky one in California this time is Auburn.

New instrument approaches planned for California
I posted a
blog entry
and a
web page with the full list
of FAA's planned new instrument approaches for California.
Many airports are getting new WAAS LPV approaches with lower
minimums, which means they should be useful in more types of weather.
