Saturday, August 23, 2003 - Morning at Camp

Here are some views from Saturday morning as daylight showed what a camp we had built the previous evening.

(1536x1024 2065K) (500x333 27K) Bryan spotted a pile of broken glass on the playa. I thought they look almost like piles from broken car windows. Though Bryan wouldn't rule out completely broken bottles that someone might have been shooting at. We talked about how to remove this garbage but our plastic garbage bags couldn't hold it. So we'll let BLM know where this is in case they'll have any volunteers in the area soon. And possibly we'll pick this up ourselves with a more proper container on a future trip. This picture is mainly for BLM - Bryan is in the photo to provide scale for the size of the two piles of glass.

Dave parked his truck on top of the island overnight with his Ham Radio acting as a cross-band repeater so that we could talk-in Heath to the camp if he had arrived overnight. The top of the island has radio line-of-sight to most of the Black Rock Desert playa. However, Heath didn't come to meet us until Saturday night.
