AeroPAC MudRock 2006

I flew with some friends to AeroPAC's MudRock 2006 launch at Black Rock on June 17, 2006.

Some pictures are omitted right now but will be added later. The plane that I was a passenger in had a gear-up landing at Black Rock. No one was hurt and the plane was in excellent shape other than the obvious need for a new propeller and some engine maintenance. But I wanted to let the pilot/owner confirm he's done with all the insurance stuff first before posting pictures of the plane.

img_6049.jpg - 2006:06:17 12:37:31This rocket had a problem. It burned so slowly that after it was going for 7 minutes like this, I still had time to go to Paul H's camp, get my camera, come back and take this picture. People started joking to the owner that you need a space launch permit from Washington DC for a rocket burn time over 15 seconds... well, he would if it actually got off the rail.

img_6050.jpg - 2006:06:17 12:37:46Still going. Nothing outlasts the... whatever it is.

img_6051.jpg - 2006:06:17 12:38:25Now it's finally done. The base of the rocket has been exposed to flame far longer than it was designed to. So some of it has caught fire. They successfully doused it with bottled water without waiting for the fire extinguisher that was on the way.
