Wed, 09 Sep 200910 years ago today: Lightning struck my backyard
10 years ago today,
lightning struck a tree in my backyard.
It was easy to remember the date: 9/9/99.
I posted pictures of the burn marks on a broken branch when it was
later removed, and notes about what I learned about the event.
At least I knew my Ham Radio antennas were properly grounded - since an
antenna taller than the tree was only 15 feet away and was not struck!
The strong line of thunderstorms had gotten the attention of everyone
across the Bay Area. I wasn't the only one with a story like this.
Tue, 01 Sep 2009New instrument approaches planned for CaliforniaI posted a blog entry and a web page with the full list of FAA's planned new instrument approaches for California.
